Itinerary description
One of the best all-year hikes close to Portland. You need to buy an $7 parking ticket at the grocery store just after the Sauvie Island bridge. It is very rare that you can follow the beach from the lighthouse to the northern tip of the island. Normally, go to the gun platform on the green embankment along the beach from the lighthouse, follow the track back from the platform for about 200 yards to a four-way junction. Go right and follow the faint trail to the tip of the island.
