Itinerary description
A very pleasant 7.4km, grade 4 loop hike.
From carpark 1 (very small area) on Booth Road, this track follows a gully with a historic saw mill, weirs, sheep washes, dams and waterfalls (dry in summer).
There are good history board signs along the way for interest and some orange markers on trees to guide you between main signage. The track itself is overgrown in patches so you need to keep a keen eye for deviations.
Continue to carpark 2 on Booth Rd where there are more signs.
To loop back to carpark 1 turn right onto Booth Rd and walk approx 5 minutes to Spot Mill Track. We stopped here to enjoy our picnic lunch. There’s a lovely clearing with plenty of fallen trees to sit on.
Continue on Spot Mill Tk till you reach Cellar Tk. Continue till you intersect with the track you commenced on from carpark 1. This track abuts private sheep grazing property.
The gradient is gentle at the beginning and end, but steep in the middle, with multiple obstacles and undulating terrain.
Today, thanks to good rains, we enjoyed many waterfalls and little brook crossings.
A good level of fitness is required for this grade 4 hike however in taking our time and enjoying it at a leisurely pace we managed easily.
Hiking poles recommended as is good quality hiking shoes.
Bring everything you need for the day. No toilets or picnic tables / facilities.
