Itinerary description
Very nice trail if ur looking for a wander in a lovely, authentic village close to Beirut.
Trail is divided into 2 sections: a wander in Ain Aar / Beit Chabeb and a hike in Qornet Chehwan
The first section is on paved road where u dnt need ur trekking poles, u will find urself immersed in the Mediterranean landscape, which i adore, plenty of plenty of astonishing ruins, churches, old houses and old villas, some of them incredibly renovated and others abandoned, which gives the village a unique character. Apparently their habitants love dogs big time, we met too many of them, fortunately they were inside the fence or on leash.
For the second section, its in the quiet beautiful valley of Qornet Chehwan, u will enjoy hiking on dirt road and mud with ur sticks after a long stroll on pave. Following the trail was slightly hard, due to GPS inaccuracy in the bottom of the valley, but u cant get lost as trail is well marked with ribbons on the tree trunks. Its amazing how much condensed the pines are, and the beautiful moss covers the trunks and rocks and everything in the forest.
Crossing the rivulet is extremely slippery, but dnt worry level of water is null even in winter. Terrain is also slippery in wet conditions.
Preferably not to be done in summer as altitude is low.
