Itinerary description

Vanaf de parkeerplaats wandelen we het Leenderbos in. Het oudste gedeelte van het Leenderbos is rond 1932 aangeplant. We wandelen o.a. langs het Klein Hasselsven. Dit ven is veel ouder dan het Leenderbos. Het Klein Hasselsven is waarschijnlijk ontstaan aan het eind van de laatste ijstijd. Een grote klomp ijs is daar blijven liggen en
is langzaam gaan smelten. Wat ontstond was een pingoruïne. De ronde vorm van dit ven is kenmerkend voor een pingoruïne. Bron: Toeractief

From the parking lot we walk in the Leenderbos. The oldest part of the Leenderbos planted around 1932. We walk among others, along the "Klein Hasselsven". The fen is much older than the Leenderbos. The "Klein Hasselsven" is likely to emerge at the end of the last ice age. A big lump of ice is lie there and is slowly melting. What emerged was a pingo ruin. The round shape of this fen is characteristic of a pingo ruin. Source: Toeractief
