Itinerary description
Day 2 of the Walter Tishma Way. Our guide from Footpaths of the World dropped us off at the road up to the trailhead. The first section of the trail was a gentle climb up to Deer Ridge Junction. Cross the road and continue on the trail down until you meet the next trail which turns sharply to the right. Hike across some beautiful meadows with gorgeous mountains all around until you reach the Beaver Meadows parking area. There are bathroom facilities here. Leaving the parking area, cross a small bridge and continue through the meadow into the woods and over a small ridge. Coming back down, watch for an unmarked fork on the left. Take this path across some scrub land to a road. Follow the road for about 100 yards then pick up the trail again on your left. This easy trail follows along a ridge and comes down to a road. Carefully cross over and pick up the trail again to cross the Moraine Park. Keep a lookout for elk near the creek. You will encounter some gates - pass through them into a parking lot and follow the trail by the creek, passing under the main road, until you come to highway 66.
