Itinerary description
The walkway of the River Paiva is a unique construction, made from wood, stretching along the left bank of the river in the Aveiro region. It is 8 km long surrounded by the valley of the river, creating a special bond of ingenuity and nature. The river itself was considered the least polluted in Portugal, since ’90s is one of Europe’s cleanest river.
The hike begins in Areinho so that the first part of the walk is mainly flat and not much challenging. The second part of the walk includes the famous ascent of 500 steps, and from the top yo can appreciate a very unique view to the landscape.
The hike ends in Espiunca here we take a rest in a coffee bar by the river, than we drive back to Porto.
