Itinerary description
This was a day trip from Beijing, independently. Took a bus to Miyun, then a taxi to Mutianyu. Arrived at 11am to the visitor center, at 334 meters meters over sea level. From here the cable car takes you to Tower 14, at 674 meters. I took it to spend more time on the Great Wall itself. From here I walked 1.5 kms up to Tower 23, at 835 meters. They say its the most beautiful part of the wall. From Tower 23 I walked all the way down, 2.5 Kms, to Tower 6, at 527 meters. From here you can take the slide down to the visitor center, or walk on a nice trail. I did the later. The whole walk of 5.7 kms took me 3 hours in total. There are several steep sections, especially near Tower 23. It was nice to see the Great Wall covered by snow, but it made walking difficult on certain parts.
