Itinerary description

A walk along bulldozed paths through rugged terrain. There are several good points to retrace steps so no one needs walk further than is comfortable. The last part of the walk is on an exposed mountainside so it increases the effects of sun and wind.

Waypoints

Park at shrine

Sharp right

Sit in the shade of the church for a drink

You have walked 2.3 k, mainly down hill so assess if it is time to walk back to your car, or go onwards and upwards.

Hunt the red markers

Shut gate, walk a few paces and look for a rock with red arrow, then a round rock with a red spot. This is the 'short cut' path.

At the track, turn right

4k time for a rest and decisions.

Turn back and follow tack to your car. Continue on forward track to Tapes - no shops or cafes. Or, take the left turn to follow the zigzag track to Voina Spring...this is where we're heading, after a rest and a drink of spring water. Assess the likelihood of water - for the first time ever, I found it dry in the autumn after the prolonged drought of 2018.
