Itinerary description
One way hike from Wakan (Wadi Mistal) to Al Alya (Wadi Bani Kharrus) via Suwgra. A well-marked donkey track from start to finish. There is the possibility to take on water at the hotel/cafe at Suwgra. The final decent into Wadi Bani Kharrus is very steep.
I would classify this hike as difficult because of its duration and issues with the route approx 1 km descent/ascent to/from the wadi floor in Wadi Bani Kharrus. As of December 2023, there are two sections of the route where rockslides have occurred leaving two unstable scree fields with large boulders above. It is possible to cross these sections, but great care is needed so as to not set off secondary slides and release the boulders embedded in the scree above. I would not attempt these sections after dark.
Activity was undertaken as a fast hike with trail running on level/clear sections. At a regular pace with stops, I would estimate 12-13 hours.

Looking forward to trying this trail. Do you remember roughly how long it took from Wakan to Suwgra? I’m planning to do it over 2 days, staying overnight in Suwgra.
Sure. It took me 3h40 mins from Wakan to Suwgra. I was travelling light and ran part of the trail. I'd give myself 5-5.5 hours as a hike.
