Itinerary description

It is a classic Wadi Al Hina hike with a small variation at the end - a steep descent that makes it more interesting. Mainly the route is very easy and doable by very beginners. There is a very steep descent starting from P-19 that requires some scrambling skills. If you are not comfortable with that descent just take a right turn at P-18 and take the classic route. I have accomplished this hike during the summer heat in July.

Also note, even though you see pictures taken in July, during hot months you will probably not see water and much greenery.

Route parts:
1) P-01 - P-06. A green part. The wadi is situated in about 200 m from parking. There are some bushes, palms, and water pools. Probably this green part can be shorter or longer depending on the part of the year and precipitations. It was about 1 km long in my case.
2) P-06 - P-16. Dry wadi.
3) P-18. Dam. Probably the most beautiful part of the route.
4) P-19 - P-20. A steep descent. It is better to have hiking poles here. There are many loose rocks.
5) P-21 - end. Road.

Must-have gear:
1) High-cut hiking shoes,
2) 3 liters of water, some electrolytes, enough food,
3) Sun protective clothing (many parts of the track do not have shade at all)

Recommended gear (useful on P-19 - P-20 Descent while going down):
1) Hiking poles,
2) Gloves

Parking location is 25.542062, 56.160624. Accessible by a sedan car. Exit the E87 road at 25.541079, 56.160744 (it is an exit to a dirt road). If you go from Dubai side you will find a U-turn location about one min drive after you pass the exit.

Did a portion of this loop yesterday, limited time, easy to follow instructions with many cairns leading the way. We'll done A ton for making it so simple!

Thanks a lot for all the efforts to make this beautiful experience available to all.
I am new to hiking and found this to be out of the world - it rained on our hike and that made even more exciting.

Got a bit confused and had to take real tough route descending some 250 meters where as another group took a different route. Some better marking on this last to KM (after the dam) will help.

Overall, AMAZING! Guys, take leave and go if you have to!

Dear Anton, I’m planning to do the hike with a group of friends of which one would struggle with the steep descend. When you say turning right before the P19 it looks as if you turn right right after p 18 where the wadi heads to the right? Is this correct? So you could walk back and avoid everything you did after p18? Thank you so much in advance

Hello, I am planning on doing this with my children. Is it possible to start at the end to go to the dam and then just come back?
    Thank you so much

Hi Rafaela, I do not recommend to follow my route with a child because of a very steep descent P-19 - P-20. It is better for you to follow a classic route. In that case you will reach the dam at P-18 through a wadi. You can see it on the map.

Hi Daniela , yes you are right. You have to turn right at P-18 where the wadi heads to the right.

This is a lovely trail. We did about half and then turned back. Very easy to follow, well-marked. Quite a bit of fun scrambling on the rocks. It's pretty flat but you are always having to watch where you are stepping as there are lota of uneven stones and rocks underfoot.

Hi.. I wish to do this hike on the weekend (28-May-2022). Can someone advise how to get to the start point or advise where the parking area is as most of the places along the roadway are fenced off..

Hi Selogen, sorry I missed your comment. I have just added the information how to get there. If you go there and see that things changed, please let me know and I will update the description. Please note, that probably you will not see much water and greenery now in June since it is already hot.
