Itinerary description
Wadi Showka loop with 2 small hills, avoiding stairs
Wad Showka is the first ever hike we have done in UAE, few years back when we started hiking. We have been to Wadi Showka Multiple times then and covering Staircases, Pools, Opposite side of the usual range, etc. This time we wanted to do the same path as we did in our first hike.
Parking:
Google “Shawka car parking”. Its open space right side on the road, ¬around 400m before the “Wadi Shawka Dam Park,”, where most of the people parks.

Beginning:
Just in front of the parking, you can see a clear path way ascending to the hill side. This is the only path here so you won’t miss it.
Hike:
Initially, the ascent is a bit steep until you reach the flat summit area of the mountain range. Once you've reached this point, the trail becomes relatively parallel, featuring a well-laid path that is easy to follow. Along the way, you'll encounter man-made wooden huts, providing convenient spots to take a break. Our chosen trail came across six of these huts. Additionally, there are points where you can either extend or shorten the hike, offering flexibility in your route.
The trail encompasses two short summits, followed by a descent to the other side. Upon descending, you have the option to continue further or turn right, heading towards the dam. As you progress, the path offers elevated views parallel to the dam area. Eventually, it intersects with the final steps of the famous man-made concrete staircase. Descending these final stairs leads you to the main dam area, where the main road ends. From there, its around 900-meter walk along the main road, passing the dam, DAM car park, children's area, and a roundabout, brings you back to the starting point where you parked your vehicles.
Overall, the path is easy and well-marked. Our journey, starting at 6:30 and concluding at 10:15, included multiple breaks for snacks and photos. With fewer breaks and a steady pace, you could easily shorten the duration. Throughout the hike, we encountered various groups, families, and runners, taking advantage of the pleasant weather.
