Thank you.
Wadi Saham is located to the West of Fujairah City and consists mainly of a rocky wadi floor with scree and mountain walls.
The largest petroglyph assemblage in the wadi is focused on a single rock, to the side of the road, with a large number of horse riders depicted, as well as geometric shapes such as the letter I and cruciform images.

A small group of us friends went on a hike on a trail that starts from Wadi Saham to the mountain summit in the east.
A UAE local hiker from the Wadi Saham village whom we met on the mountain later informed us that the mountain is known as Jebel Raham.
This mountain had residents and farms in previous centuries and has ruins of stone built houses along the trail.
The trail starts near the Petroglyph rock besides the access road to the village.
The access road is fully asphalted till the Saham village, so any types of cars can reach the start point.
There is ample parking space. You can park somewhere here.

This loop trail is well laid by Fujairah adventures and gradually gains elevation over stable rocks of the Wadi and mountain surface.
There are very less chances of losing your way as the trail is clearly visible.
In the midpoint of the ascent section, you will come across the ruins of ancient houses, it has a name board too.
From here you can see the summit of Jebel Raham which also has a UAE flag pole.
Once you reach the summit, the views are spectacular, you can see Indian Ocean, Al Hayl area and Wadi Saham mountains range.
As is usual, the Eastern mountains have low clouds and we were lucky to be greeted by chilled cloud cover at the summit, which made our instagrammer hikers go mad.
We descended by the loop trail and the path was short and steep down but on a stable trail.
Overall this is a nice beginner plus hike with excellent views and good cardio workout. There are not many trees for shade, so go well prepared.

I have navigated this trail and found it to be relatively easy to follow. The view from the summit is mesmerizing. Along the way, we spotted camels and even encountered a snake. There is a small section of the trail that is elevated and there is no shade at all, so it's best to start early in the summer. However, it's an amazing hike in the winter.
Hi Zeeshan,
Nice to know that you enjoyed the hike, some surprises too.
Keep hiking!!

We've done the hike, and it was indeed a lovely experience. We started in the reverse order, though. Thanks for sharing this location

Did this today with family (2 kids 2 adults). Trail is super easy to follow, views are great. Lots of elevation gain and a comparatively short hike. Thanks Patrick for the great route
Hi Shameer,
Good to know you enjoyed this hike with kids.

Does anyone know if dogs are allowed on this hike? Thank you in advance
Hi Sharon,
This trail does not go through any settlements, the nearest village is bit far away.
But if you hike this as a loop (anticlockwise ) its possible you are closer to farmlands and goats etc which can lead you into difficult situations inspite of leash.
Locals dont like dogs near their animals as they get scared.
I suggest you hike this trail in reverse up and down the same way, so that you remain far from animals at the same time enjoy the hike.
Please hold your dog in leash all times as there can be goats on the mountain.
I have heard that in the mountains areas, there are instances where locals have asked for compensation amounting to thousands of Dirhams for hurt / killed animals.
Thank you for this info.
Really lovely hike. We did it in less than 2hr including a rest at the top. Beautiful lush greenery and nice views. A great beginner hike for people who don’t want to scramble but still get a little workout.
Thank you for your comment Alice.
Enjoy Hiking!

The perfect hike - not too long, not too short, beautiful scenery, clean, a peak to summit, a tiny bit technical in places but not much, hard to get lost, well marked, great to take a half decent hiker new to the UAE
Hi Sammy,
Agree with all your comments.
Enjoyed the hike this morning. Thanks, Vijay, for sharing your experience and tips.

Nice place to hike. A lot parking space available. Can reach sedan car as well.
Really excited to hike this trail this weekend :)! Just curious, is there a way from the summit to Hayel Fort?
Hi Ghadeer,
There is no direct trail from the Jebel Raham Summit to Hayl Fort, but you could descend down to Wadi Saham and then walk/ drive further towards the end of the village and hike to Hayl Fort.
I have separately recorded that trail too.
It starts from Saham village end.

Loved this trail! It was challenging in some parts and easy in others, making a great combination for those who want to dip their toes into moderate-level hikes :)! Going down was harder, so be prepared! Also, there’s no network coverage at the starting point, so remember to save the trail offline before you head there
Hi ghadeerartil,
Your observations are valuable for the beginners to be prepared well and enjoy this hike.
This particular trail is really beautiful and enjoyable.
Thank you for your comments.
Keep hiking !!
It’s also safe for kids to?
It's a proper path, uneven at places.
Stable footed kids can do it
