Itinerary description
Wadi Kub Hike
Starting point and Parking:
Google “Wadi Kub”. We need to take “Wadi Kub” exit from the E87 road. Then we need to take de-route from the proper road in to 4x4 road which is in the right side. Once you get down to the 4x4 road, right at the beginning, there is an intersection with 2 sides, left and right and we took right side. We follow this right most route all the way to the end. It’s around 3km from the main road. Even sedan can go on the road with careful drive. While going this road, on the sides we can see nice rock formations. Also we found few groups who were doing overnight camping in between this road. At the end of road, there is enough spaces in the sideways to park the vehicles.
At the end of 4x4 road, there are 2 clear small pathways, one in left side and one in right side. We choose the left side path and after the loop we ended up coming out from the right side path. May be we have done the reverse way as usual hiking route. There were no cell reception at the starting point, so we were unable to navigate any existing trails, so started with our own.
Way Up:
At the beginning there were some narrow pathways, with high boulders here and there. Elevation is gradually increased. You would see trail marks done in Orange Colour Paint. After some time, we met with small mountain with lousy rocks. There were no proper path to climb the mountain, just climb on your own way. Once climbed up, you will end up in large flat summit area, where we could see nice view of all the surroundings. There was a goat trail, going towards the right side, in parallel to the Summit and we followed that. After few meters, there is another large flat area, there were like large camp fire circles made from stones.
Way down:
Once passed this area, the descend starts, its descending via the valley of wadi. Some places you can see goat trail but some places you just do your own way down. In between we came across some flat areas as well. Near to the end, you will find back a proper pathway, which you just need to follow. There were 2 high boulders which we came across while descending. One is around 8ft in height, which you can jump down, as the bottom is kind of sand pit. Another one was right next to the end of Trail. Its more than 15ft height, but you can go surrounding it easily if you go from right side.
On the way:
Time to time you will come across nice shady places with Trees, where you can get some rest. We started hike on 7AM and back to car park by 10AM with a good breaks in between.
We didn’t face much difficulty with exposing to sunlight.
There were no cellular coverage at the bottom where we parked the vehicles, but when you are getting to higher ground, coverage was available.
Overall it was a nice hike, where you can experienced rock formations, Lousy rocks and high boulders, Summit with a great view.
