Itinerary description
Wadi Ghub
Fellow hikers,
This week was very special as the hike revealed some spectacular views and beauty of the “Rain bow spectrum valley, the” Wadi Ghub” [Google’s pronunciation may sound bit different. Not sure which is correct]
We four of us went to explore this wadi on Friday [19.02.21] early morning from Dubai. It’s a 1 hr. 15 min. drive. Good parking space is available at the start of the hike.
Definitely the highlight is the spectrum valley. But if you wish to explore further, the hike beyond this point is really beautiful. But it’s an advance level [Again this measure varies from people to people]
The hike is defined by the people who were very thoughtful of us and placed the “stack of stones” throughout the entire trail which really amazed me. A big thanks to them. All those stacked stones were visually connected at different elevations. This was the only way to find the trail unlike the established routes. Those stones really helped us to find the route while descending.
A truly amazing natural wonder to see the variation and texture, the vivid colors and the formation of rocks and stones. You will not be disappointed.
We started the trail from the bottom at 7 am and it took around 1.5 hrs. to reach the highlight “Spectrum valley” and we continued the walk. An overall 6.85 km of the trail with an elevation gain of 290 m.
We walked back around 10.30 am from the end and reached back to the start point by 12. 30 pm. It’s an intermediate to advance level. Be extremely careful while you walk along the sharp edge of the rocks and carry a lot of water / energy drink as its bit exhausting.
Happy hiking and the views are rewarding
