Itinerary description
Easy to follow trail but physically demanding. Can't skip the leg day type.
Not technical but there is very little leveled walking, most of the time climbing up the steps or stones or scree. So some people may find it as a difficult trail.
Killer to the knees on the way down (would suggest going with two cars and leave one up at jebel jais, so you dont need to go down).
We did a detour (waypoint 5 to waypoint 14) by following green arrows sprayed on rocks, those lead to the mountain village. It made the hike more adventurous. Found some cool man made steps. Note: there was no trail after we reached the village. So we had to do some light rock climbing to get back on track.
If you want to follow the original trail just stick to official signs and red markings.
We came back following original official trail. Therefore if you using this map, and not willing to take any detours, just keep on follwing the line that goes to right. You will always see red signposts every half kilometer.
From Waypoint 19 to waypoint 20 you will have to scramble up following some washed out path-something to be careful about-many loose rocks. But that is the last tough part before you reach the top plateau with a nice stone bench to rest.

I m ready to do long distance hike but my only concern is stairways to heaven it is so dangerous and difficult, for how many kms this step or steep will be in our way. To do stairways of heaven do we require any special skills such as vertical climbing or do we require rope climbing skills, if I see in you tube it is very dangerous. Can you share your blog for more information about stairways to heaven
Hi Meer,
thanks for your message. At the moment I am not planning to participate in this event. I took a look, it goes through the right part of stairway to heaven route, which is not the dangerous one (the left one is dangerous, and surely organizers wouldn't take people there).
I have attempted stairways to heaven once (left side- the dangerous one) and didn't finish (had turn around and climb back). It was too dangerous and we were only 2 people, none of us had done it before, path wasn't clear. Although you don't need ropes there, but the drop is very steep and you would be walking over an exposed edge, one wrong move can end badly.
So don't worry, this event doesn't have crazy parts like this, it is just long :)
Thanks for your review
Today I did this trail. But did not complete reached 950 mtrs and returned as there was no proper route
Hi Meer, in the description I have mentioned that we took the wrong trun by following green arrows toward left that lead to the village on the mountain. We simply missed the official red signs, that go more towards the right side. So marking are actually there. Even though, we managed to get back on the trail, but I don't recommend this to somebody who is not used to scrambling without path. For us it was okay, more adventure. And we gt to see that cool staircase. On the way down, we followed the official trail.
I am going at 24-2-2024 Saturday if any one interests to join us will meet there at 6 am
