Itinerary description
We parked near "Jouroudi" at Wadi El Amine area. I usually prefer to start most of the hikes in the area from this point since access is easy to all cars and the walk will start directly on dirt roads. The spring season made this hike especially beautiful. We went down to Majdel Tarchich village. You will have the chance to take lot of pictures on the way down (lakes, flowers, springs and mount kneisseh in the background). A moderate climb will make you reach "Dahr el Mtein", a wide plateau overlooking Beirut river and amazing water holes. The hike continued east in Wadi El Manzoul, fully covered with flowers from all kinds. A lunch break in the area is recommended. The climb of Mount Zaarour is gradual from the east following the ridge. The scenery from the ridge is stunning, having Sannine to your right and Mount Kneisseh to your left with valleys all around. After reaching Zaarour summit, the way back to the cars is easy following the plateau and finally a moderately steep descent to the starting point

Beautiful trail during spring.
Amazing variety of grounds. We passed by green grass fields to interminable fields of flowers ..then rocks.. then mud .. even snow!! Lovely colors.
I advice hikers to enjoy every part of the trail because it feels like travelling from a scenery to another.
The last ridge part is the most amazing of all. I suggest to stop and look at the 360 view. It is breathtaking to see where you reached.
Wanna take a beautiful picture of ur buddies? Let them go first up the ridge and catch the moment of their silhouettes just before reaching the summit!!
Lovely hike.. i would do it again!

Thank you very much Rami. The first 5 k are semi-urban but the rest is superb. Route finding skills required. Moderate to difficult depending on one’s experience.
Thank you Olivier for the review :)

Thank you Rami for this trail !
A few days ago we PARTIALLY walked your trail. We walked the higher altitude PART of the the trail. We walked (from the parking point) the loop clockwise = directly to Zaarour peak. It was not too steep. Then we continued for an extra Km on the beautiful Ridge leading to Mount Sannine.
The we went back to the starting point (via Zaarour peak) . Total about 8 Kms.
It was extremely pleasant, with snow patches and spring-season flowers !
thank you!
