Itinerary description
Hike across the Eastern Hajar (E35).
Self-supported hike with night on the tops. Took 5.5lt of water and there is an opportunity to fill up from the second house encountered on the plateau - from an outside cistern (house is marked with the sign 'no sleeping'). The water was clean, but it can't be guaranteed to be readily available. Used it for tea to be on the safe side.
The route is not demanding in so much as it is a hike with no scrambling required. However, the signage in Wadi Tiwi isn't accurate. This is a hike just shy of 40km (approx 10km on road across the plateau) and requires a lot of stamina. We set off at 10:00 am from WBK and bivvied at 5:30 pm. Next day started at 7:40 am and finished with head-torch in WT at 11:00 pm. This was at a relaxed pace. At a push, a fit experienced hiker could condense into 16-18 hours walking ex bivvy/rest.
Wadi Tiwi side- steep ascent/descent for first/final 3-4km
Take care re parking Tiwi side. This route doesn't lead you to the main parking area, but to another spot where you can park. I found this out only at the end and had to spend another half hour walking up to the main road and down the wadi to the area.
