Itinerary description

A truly beautiful and special hike.

Parking available by the side of the wadi (away from the road), which can be accessed in a saloon car.

You can start this hike from anywhere at the bottom of the wadi basin. Our start point should be aligned with the FINISH point (there was a glitch with the GPS but the Finish is correct).

Easiest entry to the wadi is from the South/West next to the road. My start point is recommended for 4x4 but you can also enter the wadi from next to the main road - just add 10mins to your walk)

Lots of greenery and pools (even in late February). Plenty of shaded spots to rest and have a picnic.

The majority of this is route is easy. The first 1/4 was busy with other walkers at 9am but we barely saw anyone on the rest of the hike.

You can extend this hike by continuing further up the wadi - we turned back after 2hrs.

Hi can we take sedan cars or we require 4 wheel

Hi Lubs.Patel You can easily access the wadi from next to the road by Sedan. (Just enter the wadi closer to the road rather than my start point - it would only add 10mins to your walk)

Please can you update your rating from 3 stars if you enjoyed the trail?

    Hi Anton,
Wanted to check with you, is it advisable to go on this hike at this time? Say coming weekend?
Asking coz the climate is hot and it hasnt rained this entire season, therefore was wondering there wouldnt be much greenery or water pools now. Would you recommend doing this during the cooler season?

We went a month ago and there was plenty of greenery in the first 1/4 (mostly due to there being irrigated farms) and a few pools.

As the weather gets hotter, be sure to go earlier or later in the day, bring plenty of water, sun screen and a hat too. Everyone’s tolerance varies so only go if you feel comfortable but it a beautiful walk and it’s easy to turn back at any time.

Glad you enjoyed the hike! We have a beautiful country with lots of great hikes to explore. Please stay safe as the temperature rises 😎

Approximately how long does it take to go until the further point on the track?

  • Photo of Balchin

If this is your first hike I would allow 2-2.5 hours to reach the end of this track, then it should be slightly shorter back (down hill and you will be familiar with the turns etc).

It would be possible to increase the length of this hike by continuing further up the wadi.

As the return is the same path, you can turn around anytime you want

It is a moderate to challenging terrain and first timers should attempt only if they are good to great physical fitness shape.

This is not wadi Alabadilah... we called it swifah trail 👣...

  • naomiluckett Dec 30, 2021

Is it ok to park on the side of the road? Or is there a safe space closer to the track to park?

  • aya_984 Jan 8, 2022

    Recommended with the family.

Great trail, really loved it and awesome for the family. Kids got really excited and refreshed when we reached the water ponds with all the fish and tadpoles.
Few bits may get a little bit challenging for those who fear heights, but nothing major to be worried about.
It was quite busy on Saturday, it was disappointing too see people leaving their trash (empty water bottles) on the way, had to pick up quite a few.
    I've done this trail.

Perfect for small kids. We went with 2-9 year olds and they could all walk and climb. We saw lizards and frogs on the way and got both shade and sunlight

Easy with small kids as you can turn back at any time and there are lots of small places to climb and explore on both shade and sunlight

Hello! I’m thinking of doing this hike very soon. Is there any particular window of time you’d recommend for this hike at this time of the year?

  • Rima Soliman Dec 30, 2022

Thank you for the info, very helpful I’m planning to check this trail. Just wondering if free camping is allowed in this area as I’m in planning to stay over night, thanks!

  • Stephanie Nour Prince Jan 28, 2023

Hi, this place looks great! Are there any restrictions on dogs? And is it better to avoid it after yesterday's rain?

  • 润程 王 Mar 10, 2023

Hi dear, is there data signal during all the way?

  • Petra Finnigan Feb 4, 2024

We wanted to do the trail today but a ranger came to us in the parking lot and said dogs are not allowed. He said he has 16 dogs himself, he is a dog trainer and loves dogs but they are not allowed on this trail. He recommended us to go for Tayybah hike that is also lovely and dogs can go. I asked him why dogs were not allowed on this trail and he said farmers in this area let the goats go to the mountains every morning and they return back every evening. When goats smell that fmdogs were in the area they wont go back home and then the small goats get killed by foxes and wolfs at night. So basically its because of the farmers in the area. Fair enough. So we cant comment on this trail, i just posted it here for the people who want to go with dogs.
