Itinerary description
Boat trip from the old port of Santorini, in Fira, to the volcanic island of Nea Kameni, one of the 4 formed by the great volcano of Santorini.
This mini trek goes from the boat to the highest point of the island, which is just over 100m long and passes through some craters of the volcano, one of which is active (giving off smoke).
The path is mostly built in stones, without any difficulty. Then there is a climb on land that is a little slippery, but it is short. Halfway there are points to stop, sit and rest, sheltered from the sun. Because of this, the trail can be done even by sedentary people with no trail experience, although they may suffer a little. Exposure to sun and wind is quite high.
I recommend doing the trail wearing sneakers, a long-sleeved shirt or wearing lots of sunscreen (and if you want, take a windbreaker to put up there). DO NOT WEAR CAPS AND HATS, AS THEY WILL FLY INTO THE CRATER!
