Itinerary description
Beautiful hike, accessible by public transportation. Start at Vuiteboeuf (small station on the Yverdon-Sainte Croix line), up the gorges de Covatannaz then turn towards Les Rasses and follow the path to the top of Le Chasseron mountain. Easy climb, good paths, and plenty of nature before enjoying a spectacular view of the Leman region on one side, of the Jura on the other. And maybe have a beer at the auberge. Gentle walk down through a lot of pastures and woods before reaching Mauborget village, on a balcony overlooking Lake Neuchâtel. There's a bus stop there taking you back to Grandson and Yverdon, unless you prefer continuing downhill to the pretty villages of Fontaines and Fiez, where the bus also stops every hour or so.
