Description:
The hike starts from the center of the village Voskopoja at a drinking water
source. The track leads you initially along a river, following a gravel road.
Continuously ascending, the road leads you to village of Shipske. The small,
traditional village welcomes you with a newly restored church in the center
of an historical cemetery. A drinking water source and a small bar owned
by welcoming people, make Shipske a nice place to spend an afternoon. It
is recommended to call the owner of the bar for service in advance since it
is only randomly open (Tel. 0683505174).
Optionally, you can walk up a bit further to the center of the village. The
trail to return to Voskopoja is a bit more of a hike and leads you down,
crossing the stream and fields into the forest. The view over the valleys is
breathtaking. Getting closer to Voskopoja, there is a monastery with
parking opportunities and if you do not want to follow the dirt road, there
is a trail passing by several hotels, a church and another water source
before you reach Voskopoja again.
