Itinerary description
Easy hike on the beach and back through the small villages and sandy paths. Start is from the Unity Conference Center, where you can easily and safely park your car. During the week-ends, many Liberians come to this area to exercise and run on the road, so it is lively with activity. The hike then continues through Hotel Africa ruins (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hotel_Africa) and shortly after turns onto the beach. You can see different beaches along the coast, fishermen preparing their boats, and you can even take a swim. The ocean is calm there and some of the beaches are even clean. The beach part of the walk is about 5km. On the way back, you walk through a couple of settlements and small villages, the paths are sandy and gravel. One bit includes a bridge across what today was a small water stream but I can imagine it may have more water during the rainy season. It is a nice hike to escape Monrovia traffic and noise.
