Itinerary description
Villanueva del Rosario is only 40 minutes from Malaga city.
Plenty of parking near the start of the trial, we parked right next to the playground Fuente Vieja Park. The whole walk is more or less along the unpaved road only the beginning and the end are paved road.
Basically it is like walking along the inside the roads of a big olive farm. We saw quite a lot of olive collectors working this time of the year. Therefore also expect there are quite a few vehicles driving up and down the road.
When you reach Ermita de la Virgen del Rosario you can walk downhill to see the Rio Cerezo but we didn't walk down. We could see it is another beautiful route along the mountain tough.
We then followed the road all the way towards Fuente de Hondonero for lunch, these fuentes are all around this region of the mountain and there are signs showing you when you are near one. We also did not have time to walk up to the Mirador Del Alto De Hondonero, but we would very much like to return for that. This whole trail is also a great route for mountain bike.
Overall, very easy steady going uphill and gently coming down, not many shades so not suitable for summer maybe.
