David Livingstone, the Scottish missionary and explorer, "discovered" the waterfall in 1855 and baptized them with the name of Queen Victoria, although they are locally known as Mosi-oa-Tunya, the smoke that thunders. The waterfall is part of two national parks, Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park in Zambia and the Victoria Falls National Park in Zimbabwe.
The Victoria Falls, located on the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe, constitute a waterfall of the Zambezi River. The falls are approximately 1.7 km wide and 108 m high.
We started walking from the Royal Livingstone Hotel, a luxury hotel in the old colonial style and we walked along the path, passing the Avani Victoria Falls Resort, to enter the Victoria Falls Park.
There, the roads are marked and marked. Due to the large amount of water that it brings in May, a tremendous cloud of water forms, which in spite of the umbrella and the raincoat you finish draping. One of the most impressive steps is the Devil's Bridge, a bridge that is in front of the waterfall and to cross it you have to arm yourself with courage, by the torrential water that falls and the wind that generates the water fall of the waterfall. But it is worth the soaking because from the other side the views are very nice. You can cross the island that crosses in front, with courage and poise by the torrential rain, and return behind to see the rainbows that form.
After retracing our steps, we went through the "photographic tour", which goes through the back of the waterfall to the Victoria Bridge, which already crosses to Zimbabwe. When going inside the park, you can not leave at the end point, as it is fenced. You will find baboons, that if you do not threaten them they will not do anything to you.
