Itinerary description
Follow the Statale up to Poggio, then follow the (few) labels and head for the diga di Vagli. The route is a mix of asphalt and terrain, mostly under the trees. When you reach the dam, you can (apparently) cross the limited walking area and shoot few photos at the dam.
Then, head for Vagli di sotto following the only road you can find, but exit the official road to stop at the only bar you'll find during the day. Continue to Vagli di Sopra following a steep and not so we'll labeled route. Stop at the Fontana delle Monache for a FULL refill of your water, you won't find any other fountain till the end of the day (and you'll need it!).
After Vagli di Sopra, the road is mostly asphalt where you'll look at the spot without the sun, up until a huge "Via Vandelli" label that you have to follow. From now on, it's a constant uphill hike in a mountain environment. There are few technical difficulties but easily manageable up to the Passo Tambura.
When at Passo Tambura... Stop for the breathtaking sight, worthing the effort!
Now, turn right and descent the path: be careful since there are two passages requiring a still foot.
When you reach the fork for the Nello Conti, take it and end your day with a beer at the Rifugio. Be sure to go back at the fork for a picture of the sunset!
