Itinerary description
Our third day of this trek was quite pleasant with all the corn fields and farm lands casting many shades of colors.
We mostly followed the main trail of via Transilvanica except for the last 7 kms. At km 18.3, or roughly 4 kms after Straja, we decided to take a 'shortcut' dirt road towards Șeușa. We read the guide and we felt that the official route did not have anything interesting and added, unnecessarily, about 7 kms to our hike on asphalt and with less interesting views. The path we chose was more isolated, had more green space and still offered wonderful views of the valley nesting Alba Iulia (views that included the city itself). I recommend doing it like this, in my opinion.
With the above being said, we had an emergency when we got to Șeușa and had to call a taxi into the city. So this is reflected in the recording. Further, it was also a sensible decision because the route after Șeușa is quite tedious, boring and industrial which makes sense after approaching a city the size of Alba Iulia. All in all, we were very pleased with this hike.
