Continuiamo l’attraversata dell’immensa pianura della Bassa Sassonia, facendo riferimento ai corsi d’acqua, ai centri abitati, alle aziende agricole, immaginando la difficoltà dell’antico pellegrino nell’orientarsi, nell’evitare le numerose paludi, oggi bonificate, nel trovare ospitalità.
Celle – La città venne fondata, con il nome di Kellu (località sul fiume) nell’anno 966. Il castello di Celle🏰 fu residenza dei duchi di Brunswick-Lunemburg per quasi tre secoli e mezzo, dal 1378 al 1705. Durante la prima guerra mondiale ebbe anche la funzione di luogo di internamento per ufficiali nemici catturati. La città sorge sulle rive del fiume Aller, e sorge a circa 40 km (nord-est) da Hannover, 60 (nord-ovest) da Branschweig e 120 (sud) da Amburgo. Celle merita una visita per il suo castello e per le vie del centro storico con le case ancora con il graticcio medievale ben conservato.
