Volcà a 12km de Nàpols. Té una alçada de 1277m (el crater té 1132m). El camí comença en una carretera tallada serpentejant, però de seguida es converteix en un camí pel bosc. En un revolt et trobes de cop amb la vista del volcà al fons, amb tot de ginesta florida a la seva falda.
L’accés al cim del cràter està controlat i és de pagament. Quan falta poc per arribar al cim, s’ha de passar forçosament per una taquilla. Val la pena fer la volta circular, i aconsello fer-ho en el mateix sentit que el track, ja que és possible que si es fa al revés no us deixin passar a partir d’un cert punt del cràter.
Un cop a dalt hi ha guies que et donen una breu explicació de la història del volcà i les seves peculiaritats. La vista del cràter (amb alguna fumerola) i dels voltants, amb Nàpols al fons, és espectacular.

Volcano about 12km away from Napoli. It is 1277m high (the crater is 1132m high). The track starts on a twisting closed road, but we soon get into a path in the forest. After a curve you can see the sight of the Volcanoe at the end, with all of flowering broom on the slope.
The access to the top is controlled and you need to pay. When you are getting close to the top, you have to pass through a ticket office. It is worth to do the circular track, and I advise you to do it in the same sense, as it is possible that if done the opposite way, they won’t let you pass from certain point of the crater.
Once on the top there are guides that give you a short explanation of the History of the volcano and its peculiarities. The view of the crater (with some steam) and the surroundings with Napoli at the end, is spectacular.

Me parece un muy buen recorrido. Seguramente lo intente realizar pero tengo una duda, en el km 9,6 hay una valla ¿está siempre abierta para caminantes?
Tienes razón, ya casi ni me acordaba. Allí había una valla, que de hecho está cerrada. Pero al final de la valla (o al principio, viniendo desde arriba) hay un paso por donde se nota que pasa todo el mundo, porque se ha formado un camino en el lado interior. No recuerdo tener ningún problema para pasarla.

The walk around the top of Versuvius is stopped half way round. May be with a guide, who will have to be booked in advance you can go all round?
Needs to be checked.
We drove to the official car park, walked to the ticket office all on the west side of the volcano, then ascended, and walked half way round until stopped, then returned.

Rando à faire sans hésitation en partant de Ottaviano puis direction le sommet du Vésuve. À notre arrivée au cratère, nous avons eu la chance de profiter du panorama gratuitement compte tenu que nous n’arrivions pas du côté des accès payants.

Belle rando dans le cirque mais pour la montée au Vésuve, galère : la caisse du parc fermée, il a fallu contourner l entrée sud, et arrivés en haut à côté du bar on nous a demandé nos tickets !
Nous avons quand même dû payer, faire le tour avec tous les touristes puis redescendre par l entrée Nord et prendre le chemin marqué fermé...

Amazing trail. It follows the official Trail Nr. 1 for a long time. We were no able to go up to the Vesuvio following this trail as apparently the road is destroyed at the moment. Hence we went and got up through the other side, we're usually all the tourists go (trail Nr. 5). Highly recommended! Thank you for this trail!
