Itinerary description
Evening trek with hiking club of Aghios Nikolaos to thaumatourgic monastery of Faneromeni.Not easy in the midlle of August and with lunch just 1 hour ago. We start 17.45 and via the new clean turkish path we arrive to Karavostasi beach in just 25min. and in 45min to Voulisma beach. Then start the first small ΄tricky' ascent for 20min. Somewhere hear start looking for your guts. Then descent, deep devil descent comes to show you who is the boss. After that ascent ascent ascent ,some straight, and ascent ascent ascent.I thought 2it water they gone be enough but no.Once we reach a place(straight)with some ruins and above the very nice view of thaumatourgic monastery.Mini stop and start the last ascent through the very well signed path(all the off route piece of trek is signed by red spray).Dark comes very quickly and after 15min trek took a romantic note till the end who came 20min after and yes! we did it! Orthodoxs we celebrate Virgin mairy much,summer easter as they called.Untill 15of August thousands of faithfull comes from around to worship. Hundreds of pilgrims to monastery tonight,many by feet from the main asphalt road, and many also by cars. Excelent experience after the 9km ascent and descent. 'Kai tou hronou!!
