Itinerary description

From Van d'en Haut, follow for Salanfe.
It's about 1,5 hours of climbing but on rather large and easy paths. There are some ladders but no technical difficulty.
From the Auberge de Salanfe, turn right up towards the Col du Jorat (bit less than 1 hour).
From the Col du Jorat, go down the other side and after several curves, do not turn left but follow the narrow path straight and rather flat into the bushes. It's not a marked path but it was easy enough to follow. You walk for about 2,5 km on this non marked path before reaching a marked path and turning right (there's a view point right in front also).
Go down to Cocorié, turn right again and follow for Van d'en Haut. This part is rather steep and has some chains and the path is sometimes narrow and over rocks.
Eventually, after some ups and downs, you'll reach Les Diés, where you turn right. You'll reach the road, where again you turn right and back to Van d'en Haut along the road (few minutes)

Walked again in November 2020 but in the other direction: from Van d'en Haut to Les Diés, then Cocorié, then sharp left at the viewpoint onto the non-marked path, then up to the col du Jorat and down past the Auberge back to Van d'en Haut.
I'd recommend this direction, you avoid having to go down the steep path around Cocorié.

I have followed this trail  View more

We did this hike starting from Van d'en Haut to Les Diés. Around Cocorie, it's indeed quite steep and difficult. The path is not always very clear. It doesn't seem to be used a lot. We used a gps, so that was on problem.
We enjoyed it a lot! It's mainly through the forest, apart from the part around Col du Jorat and Lac de Salanfe. It's maybe pity that you can hear the cars on the highway in the valley in the first part, but it helps to image that's just the sound of a waterfall ;)

You can reach Van d'en Haut by bus, or you can walk up from the train station of Salvan. You can also climb the Dent du Salentin from the Col du Jorat.
