Gangan hefst við þjóðveg 1 þar sem hægt er að leggja bíl. Á leiðinni er farið í gegnum hlið sem mikilvægt er að loka á eftir sér. Áfram er gengið eftir gömlum vegi í Valadal og síðan upp á hálendið eftir grjóti sem merkir gönguleiðina. Einnig er hægt að lengja leiðina um hér um bil 10 kílómetra og fara Svartárdalinn að Hvammi og sjá meðal annars eyðibýli.

Park at the beginning of the walk just off road 1 and enter the path through the gate. Please be mindful of not blocking traffic and of closing the gate again behind you. Follow the road, cross a second gate and follow until you reach the valley and the big shed to your left. You will find a gate to your right before the path goes into a curve to the left and into the valley. Enter the highlands through that gate. You will find rock collections marking the path. This path continues until a lookout point over the valley and returns the same way. You can also choose to continue through the valley along the remnants of the farms Valabjörg and Valadalur and over to the farm Hvammur in Svartardalur. That would be a further 10 km. Be mindful to close gates behind you and only bring your dog if he is proberly trained or on a leash. There might be sheep or horses in the area.

Parkmöglichkeit befindet sich auf der Schotterstraße die von Route 1 abgeht. Bitte beachten Sie, nicht den Verkehr zu blockieren. Der Track führt durch das Tor und entlang der Schotterstraße, bitte schließen Sie das Tor hinter sich. Man folgt der Straße, durchquert ein zweites Tor und geht weiter bis zu dem großen Schuppen im Tal. Dort verlässt man die Straße durch das Tor im Zaun und folgt den Steinformationen bis man zu dem Aussichtspunkt über das Tal kommt. Dieser Track folgt demselben Weg zurück, allerdings kann man auch weiter durch das Tal wandern, an den Rückständen von den verlassenen Farmen Valabjörg und Valadalur vorbei bis zur Farm Hvammur in Svartardalur. Das wären zusätzliche 10 Kilometer. Bitte beachten Sie, dass sich freilaufende Schafe und Pferde in der Gegend aufhalten können.
