Itinerary description
Lovely, long and rather tough hike but soo worth it.
Please note that with rain the old mulattiere are extremely slippery.
We started in Val di Sogno e walk along the lake to Malcesine, from Prea you start climbing.
You reach Monte Fubia (467 m) from here an incredible view of the lake from North to South and Limone directly in front of you. You descend Monte Fubia and hike up to San Michele, the piece of Faigolo is tough, but the from there all the way to San Maggiore is lovely. Panorama of the lake almost all the way.
From San Maggiore you will start climbing again, in old beautiful beech tree forests.
From here you will do the part I love most.., you will see the Eremo on the other side of Val dei Molini, that is breathtaking. The view is only possible in Autumn/Winter when the trees are without leaves. Above on your left looking over to the Eremo..you'll have Pala di San Zeno (1226 m)..an incredible view.
We did the steep mulattiera to San Benigno & Caro downwards, and it was really tough due the wet slippery stones and leaves.
I do recommend this hike, but please we aware that it is tough and long.
