Itinerary description
Ziemīga pastaiga gar jūru no Užavas līdz Ventspilij. Maršruts ved pa kādreizējā „Dzelzs priekškara” rietumu robežu, jo Baltijas jūras krasts padomju laikā bija militarizēta un cilvēkiem „no malas” – nepieejama teritorija. Arī mūsdienās vēl redzamas bijušo armijas objektu atliekas un vecie tanku ceļi krasta kāpās. Ventspils un Užavas apkārtnē vairāku kilometru garumā stiepjas Baltijas valstīs lielākie pelēko kāpu biotopi. Šīs ir neparastas ainavas, kādas citur Eiropā redzēt var tikai retumis.
From Užava to Ventspils.
The route leads down the western boundary of the former Iron Curtain, because the Baltic Sea coastline was militarised during the Soviet era and unavailable to most people. Remnants of former military objects and old tank routes in the dunes can still be seen. The largest biotopes of grey dunes stretch for several kilometres around Ventspils and Užava. These are unusual landscapes that can seldom be seen elsewhere in Europe. You can walk more than 10 kilometres here and not see another soul.
Seashore Užava - this territory covers the shoreline between the Ventspils-Liepāja highway and the Baltic Sea on both sides of the Užava River. The territory was established to protect shoreline biotopes such as the grey dunes, as well as a number of endangered plants.
You will reach the Southern Pier Promenade of Verntspils - a place for enjoying romantic walks, as well as viewing beautiful sunsets, the crashing waves of the sea and ships coming into port. A beautiful view of the city and the sea may be seen from the 19 m high observation tower equipped with a spyglass. Here one may also see the four metre high "Sailor Cow" sculpture, the fishing boat "Azova", as well as the large "Chair", which is made out of links of anchor chains.
Nokļūšana ar auto vai sabiedrisko transportu / Accessible by car or by public transport.

Užavas pirmo reizi dokumentos minēta 1230. gadā un 1253. gadā Kurzemes bīskapijas līgumā, pēc kura Užava nonāca Livonijas teritorijā. Trīs tagadējie Užavas pagasta ciemi - Užava, Sārnate un Lībciems – no 1945. gada bija Užavas pagasta teritorijā, pēc tam sekoja vēl vairākas teritoriālas reformas, bet 1990. gadā atkal atjaunoja Užavas pagastu
