Itinerary description
A relatively easy hike to two impressive slot canyons.
Off Highway 12, take the Hole-in-the-Rock road about 4 miles South-East of Escalante.
The road conditions may vary, but in May 2011 the road was pretty good and drivable by all cars.
The dirt road may have some washboard stretches and sand.
A four wheel drive may be needed at times.
Drive for about 26 miles, up to the signed Dry Fork turn off.
On the next crossing, take the left road 282.
At the parking take the hiking trail downhill.
This is a slick area and there is more than one way to get down.
Try following the cairns.
The first slot canyon on the left, when you come down into the wash, is the Peek-a-book-Gulch.
Hike as far as you can, we were not able to get any further, because of the water.
The Spooky Gulch is further down the wash, just follow the footsteps, you will not find any trail markers.

Hiking time: 1 Hour, 45 minutes, return.
