Itinerary description
A nice narrow/slot canyon hike.
In Cannonville, take the road towards Kodachrome basin State Park.
From the asphalt, turn right signed Skutumpah Road. (Number 500).
Follow this road with steep grades, for 17.3 mile.
The road is drivable by all cars, most of the time, but when you don't have a 4x4 check first.
The road isn't drivable if wet.
The trailhead is on the left an is well signed.
At the permit box, take the trail south, downstream into the mostly dry canyon.
In the first half hour, there are a couple of narrows.
Further on, you see a small arch (Twisted Pine Arch) on the left, way above the canyon.
When you see a Hoodoo on the right hand side and another one a bit further away,
take a small canyon, with yellow/white sand, on the right.
The first one dead ends, but you can go up the slick rock (more difficult on the way down), to the left.
You can make it to the first Hoodoo and get a good look at the second Hoodoo, on the other side of a slot canyon.
The second canyon on the right, with yellow/white sand is a real slot canyon.
This one is dry and easy to walk in and gives a view of the Hoodoo.
