Itinerary description

This walk steps right out into the fairy-tale landscapes we can see from the house. Sound-of-music-style it leads down the open spur to the west of the house towards the village of Urrotz to our south. After a slightly tricky descent along narrow paths to the stream valley below the walk pieces its way along side rivers and streams, past bordas and farms, towards the village of Oitz and Bentas de Donamaria. It approaches Oitz along old donkey tracks and over a Roman bridge into the village where you will find a large pelota court and the village ostatua. Continue through the village and out along a country lane to Bentas de Donamaria, a superb restaurant with an enchanted garden leading down to a salmon leap and the river. From here the return is via Oitz and a direct (1kr 20 min) ascent along small lanes and tracks towards our neighbours farm of Zubialdea in Ameztia.
