Itinerary description

Near the village of Mitzpe Hila we started out on the black trail that led us down to the valley and towards the Tamir Spring, which was a gorgeous natural pool filled with clear, fresh spring water.

We continued along the green trail, following the course of the Nahal Kziv Stream. The scenery was surprisingly green and lush, reminding us of the fact that Israel's scenery is one of the most diverse that you will find anywhere.

The Kziv Stream was still carrying lots of water, which allowed us to enjoy taking the occasional dip in the small, natural pools along its route.

Having reached the red trail, we hiked up towards the ruins of Montfort Castle – a Crusader structure built in the 13th century.

There we also adored the gorgeous panorama of the surrounding tree-covered hills, after which we made our way back to the car.

The entire hike was about 10 km (6 mi) long and took us six hours – with several long breaks. The temperature during the hike had also been very comfortable, and the fact that we walked through the shade for a large part of the route, made the whole thing quite heavenly.
