Passing through the south of Sri Lanka, one of the most beautiful areas is the one surrounding the town of Unawatuna. Beautiful beaches, soft mountains and beautiful trails to get to know the area. Our idea, to visit Jungle Beach, a spectacular beach that we must reach on foot.
START:
We climb to the highest part of Unawatuna, always along a small paved road. Halfway through the journey, immersed in the vegetation that populates the mountain where we are, we will leave our tuk tuk, parked very close to the turnoff to Jungle Beach.
DESCRIPTION:
We begin the route by traveling about 100 meters along the road, towards Unawatuna, where we came from. On both sides of the road, we find some stalls where we can buy some food and drinks.
After completing the road section, we turn left, in order to descend to Jungle Beach. The comfortable road ride was going to give way to a beautiful trail, well trodden and uncomplicated.
We are facing the section to take into account. Being used to this type of terrain, we don't have too many problems going down. The trail is shady and crosses an area of extensive vegetation. Just several minutes going down.
After completely descending the trail, we arrive at Jungle Beach, a beach that surprises us with its beauty. Just several people, almost all tourists, and some very beautiful views of Galle Fort, the fortress that we will later visit. We enjoy the beach, take a dip and take a few photos. A wild beach with a certain current, so be careful if you access it, especially when there are waves.
A long time later, we left Jungle Beach. The way back we took exactly the same way as we went, going up along the path and traveling the 100 meters of paved road.
Once at the top, all that remains is to walk to the place where we had left the tuk tuk, ending the route.
CONCLUSION:
Jungle Beach is one of the most beautiful and wild beaches in the south of Sri Lanka. While passing through here, it is worth taking a dip. Special care when accessing it and if there are waves, as the sea currents are notable. Otherwise, a good time enjoying the coast and beautiful views!
