Itinerary description
This is a hike up the Tugela Gorge towards the base of the falls and the Amphitheater. Lots of natural beauty, but the wildlife is limited. Some climbing skills are required to tackle the chain ladders and the canyon at the end would have been difficult to pass through so we ended up taking the ladders.
When we got to the end point (furthest point in to the gorge) we were a little disappointed in the view. Some of the better views were well back on the trail and we had imagined that at one point we would have the amphitheater right in our face and this was not the case. The water falls couldn't be seen either and after getting a glimpse from the top (see Sentinel to Thukela Falls entry) I was hoping to get a really good view from below.
Overall a good hike but not quite the views at the end we were expecting. If you have to choose only one hike in this area go for Sentinel!

Good place to take a break. And it is also at the base of the chain ladders and the entry point to the cave/canyon.
