Itinerary description
This trail is for you if you need a spectacular mountain hike close to Yerevan city - Kotayk province, Armenia.
Teghenis mountain ( Թեղենիս լեռ ) with the height of 2851 m is the highest summit of The Tsaghkunyats mountains ( Ծաղկունյաց լեռներ ) ․
- The trail is considered for 2-days hike, as it's too long and challenging for 1 day.
- First you hike up and gain altitude to get to Tsaghkunyats lake ( Ծաղկունյաց լիճ ), then you turn back and join tiny path which will lead you to Teghenis slopes.
Last part to the summit is a little bit challenging, then you head to Yeghipatrush ( Եղիպատրուշ ) village. The trail to Yeghipatrush village is quite wild, the second part of the trail is steep.
- Near the lake you are going to meet shepherd dogs, they might bark and run to you but whenever I get there, they get calm and playful, never meet an angry dog, anyway, be aware and never go there with other dogs.
- This trail is doable from May till November, until the mountain will be snowy.
The area is green till mid August, then it's started to get dried.
- The best season starts from May till mid June, Tsaghkunyats mountain range is fantastic in this period of time.
- On top of Teghenis there is a building, where people are very kind and friendly and you can take a rest there during the storm and also fill your bottles.

I've done this trail in September. Though the season was quite different from the pics here, I really enjoyed the landscape views. Thanks for providing this trail and information, it really helps.
