Itinerary description
This trail starts in the middle of the picnic area at Donner Camp. There is no sign at the trailhead and this trail is not shown on the forest service map at that location. However, a benchmark along the trail confirms that it is party of the emigrant trail. The first part of this hike goes through lovely forests and along a creek. Later the trail merges with dirt roads, some of which can have cars on them. Near the end you will have to be careful not to trespass as it will come up to a neighborhood. however, there are many branches off the road that will take you to the lake. The map looks like this path could eventually end up at the wildlife passage culvert under the hwy 80. I didn't go that far so I am not sure if that is possible or if there is private property.
