Itinerary description
D20. Trooperstown Hill 430m and Carrick Mountain 381m, near Clara Vale, Wicklow, Eire (Marilyns).
On many of the peak bagging/outdoor websites I perused for this trip I noted there were very few route descriptions regarding ascents of the lesser known Irish Marilyns. This also applied to the availability of gpx files. I will therefore add relevant information and files that hopefully will provide assistance to future hikers/peakbaggers.

Trooperstown Hill is just East of the little tourist enclave of Laragh. The start point is at the bottom of the footpath but there is only room for one vehicle at the location. It wasn’t the best of days for me, as I took the car park picture I noticed that I had a flat tire. Up I went to do the hill first anyway before fixing the tire issue but I did forget to turn on my gps so have only got a track from the top back (on apps that don’t allow route editing). Simple enough route along a good track that takes you steadily uphill South through the heather up to the summit cairn. There are good views of the bigger peaks of the Wicklow area throughout and is one of the best scenic vistas I have had on my Wicklow Marilyn quest.
Parking: Small pull in with only room for one vehicle.
Route: Good footpath throughout with good scenic views of the surrounding Wicklow mountains.
Statistics: 2.4km there and back with 163m of height gain done in 40 mins.
Maps: Outdoor Active Irish Topo Maps.
