Itinerary description
That was the 2nd attempt to walk this trail, the 1st one you may find here (https://www.wikiloc.com/hiking-trails/trooditissa-foini-nature-trail-half-50221082 ). The difference is in the starting point, this time we started a bit further on, from Chantara waterfall and not from the very beginning, thus the trail became 4 kms shorter :)).
TERRAIN: dirt car track all the way, constant ascent to the top, way back is descent. Elevation is not difficult.
SEASON: potentially walkable all year round. In warm season it's better to walk it in late afternoon when there is enough shade.
SIGNS: there are plenty of bicycle route signs and not that many of the trail and plant species. The signs show that the trail direction is most likely from the monastery to Foini, however doing it in the opposite way is much nicer. There are some resting places along the way. Near the waterfall you may occasionally find a small ice-cream van.
KIDS: walkable with kids of all ages; potentially even prams may be used.
NB Trooditissa Monastery is not always open. Pls refer to the opening hours if you want to visit it.
If you decide to start from the waterfall, be warned that the place may be pretty crowded especially on weekends and parking may be an issue.
