Trinidad and Tobago Hiking Arima to 3 Pools, Avocat Falls in Blanchisseuse

Gazing across the well-lit park thoughts of what lay ahead flooded my head. A steady wind continued to ruffle the leaves as an elderly man started to walk aound the Santa Rosa park. It was pretty chilly as for this time of the year. I continue to play with the thoughts of what lay ahead for the day. A 24 mile trek from the Santa Rosa church in Arima to Avocat Falls in Blanchisseuse. 24 miles with elevation changes of over 2500 feet. How did I get myself caught up in this one? Sentiments echoed by my darling wife only the night before. Training for next weekend was my feeble reply. Well don't come by me to rub your foot when you're finished at all came next. All thoughts soon vapourised as 2 vehicles pulled up to park. The guys have arrived in time for a 5.00 am departure.
As we left in the darkness everyone actually forgot to walk with a headlight. Well we were walkin on the roadway with it's lamp-post's lighting. It didn't take long for the jokes to start rolling as the group powered up Calvary Hill. Now these guys can really power fast, and this is required to reach Avocat Falls to meet with Islandhikers main group. They were hiking from the Blanchisseuse bridge a 2 miles trek. We decided to add 22 to that. Very few vehicles use this winding road to Blanchisseuse even less so on a weekend. Even though we were walkin on a roadway, it is a really scenic one and has the hallmarks of a genuine hike as most of the ro adway is covered by tall forest. The views are breathtaking especially as we reached the halfway point and got to view the ocean in the distance. Even after with all this aches due to lactic acid buildup, memories created for more to come.
