Hikeathon 2012
On Saturday the 26th May the spirit of hiking comes alive when over 150 hikers walk the 19.7 miles North Coast from Matelot to Blanchisseuse . This event organised by Island Hikers Club is called the Hike-a-thon and is considered to be ":The Greatest Hiking Event for 2011".It attracts a variety of hike enthusiast from athletes to nature lovers all with a keen willingness of enjoying the ambiance of the uninhabited North Coast .The hike starts at 6.00am from the sleepy village of Matelot and it will take various participants between 4 to10 hours to complete the distance .Last year Don Mendez finished at 3hours and 44minutes followed by Curtis Forde in 4 hours and 18 minutes .The coarse consist of 3 parts and listed below are average hiking times.
