Itinerary description
March 1945: the American B-24 bomber with a Crew of 8 crashed while returning from its mission. The site was inaccessible, and the accident remained unnoticed for several months. . During the following summer, the remains of the soldiers were buried on site, a few years later then taken back to US. . Out of the 18 tons wreckage, today only a few hundred Kg are left to be found, scattered on a wide area. . My thoughts went to the brave and fine soldiers, whose sacrifice enabled our home to be free. This hike we did on the Slovenian Independence day. . Good that this place is off all beaten paths. . Bad that someone left modern trash there (danish beer cans and Thai canned food), which we collected and took down to the valley. . @tinesustersic is an incredibly talented and prudent guide: Hvala!
