Itinerary description

[English]
To get to the beginning of this route we have about 5 kilometers of gravel and stone path. Although it is not in bad condition, we will go slowly and with caution.
We leave the car in a more or less wide area where we will surely find more parked cars belonging to other people who have also come to climb Triglav . The Triglav is a national symbol and tremendously popular. Hundreds of people may be climbing it every day through its different paths. They say that you are not really Slovenian if you have not climbed Triglav at least once in your life.

The first 3 and a half kilometers we have a wide path that runs through the forest. We are inside the Krma valley with giant walls on both sides. From here we will leave the forest and the slope will increase somewhat.

A couple of kilometers later we will arrive at the beautiful refuge of Prgarca. I didn't try to go in but I got the feeling that it was closed that day.
From here we will gradually find more rock until we reach a fork where we find a sign indicating the way to the Dom Planika refuge. From this poster the vegetation is reduced to grass and a little later we will only see rock.

Once we reach the Planika refuge we will have direct views of the top of Triglav .
We leave the Dom Planika refuge behind and after about 700 meters we find the first cables placed to be able to secure ourselves in the climb.
Until now the difficulty of the route has been easy, just walking, but from here things change a lot and that is why I classify it as difficult.
From this point we have almost a kilometer of rock where we will have to climb until we reach the top. Practically throughout this section we will find cables installed to be able to make sure. I highly recommend taking the necessary climbing equipment for via ferrata belaying, including a helmet.
In case the via ferrata equipment that I bought is useful to someone, it is the Salewa Attac. Here is a link to Amazon:
Salewa Premium Attac Accessory, Unisex Adults, Silver, One Size
It is curious that I found several people who had this same equipment.

Is this stretch to the top very difficult?
Seen from below it seems very difficult and dangerous, especially the last half of the ridge until we reach the top, but the reality is that as we advance very slowly and cautiously, we don't find any point that we can say is dangerous or difficult. Although in some sections there is a drop on both sides, the path is wide enough so that we do not have the feeling of being exposed.
Slowly and with good handwriting we will reach the desired peak without surprises. Once here we can enjoy the incredible 360 degree views. The top is very wide and we find a small refuge.

Two helicopters have been flying over the top the whole time, I imagine in case of an accident. It gives me the impression that they are like two vultures waiting for someone to fall off a cliff :-)

Being a long route and taking into account that the last kilometer to the top will take us a long time (and again when going down) I recommend leaving very early in the morning and taking it easy to enjoy this magnificent mountain and beautiful surroundings. The normal thing is that the ascent and descent take us between 10 and 12 hours.

Special precaution in the crest area if there is bad weather.

In order to get to the beginning of the track we need to drive through 5 kilometres of gravel and stones road. Although the condition of this road is not too bad we better drive slowly and with caution.
We park the car in an ample zone where we will very probably find a few more cars parked from other hikers that have come to also climb Triglav. Triglav is a national symbol in Slovenia and extremely popular. Hundreds of people could be walking up the mountain on a certain day following all the different tracks available. It is said that you are not a real Slovenian until you have climbed Triglav at least once in your life.

For the first 3 and a half kilometres we walk on a wide path inside a forest. We are inside the Krma valley and we encounter giant rock walls on both sides. After getting out of the forest it will get a bit steeper.

A Couple of kilometres more and we will get to the beautiful Prgarca hut. I didn't try to get inside but I got the impression that it was closed that day.
From here we will find more and more rocks and less vegetation. We get to a fork with a signpost indicating the way to the Dom Planika hut. From here we only see grass that slowly turns into just rocks.

Once in the Dom Planika hut we will enjoy beautiful and direct views of the Triglav summit.
We leave the hut and around 700 hundred meters later we find the first cables installed in order to secure our climbing.
Up to here it has been really easy, only walking, but from here things change quite a bit and this is the reason why I classify this track as difficult.
From this point to the summit there is almost a kilometre where we will only find rock and it will be mostly climbing. There are safety cables installed pretty much all the way to the summit. I highly recommend wearing climbing gear for via ferratas in order to secure ourselves, including the helmet.
The safety gear I bought is the Salewa Attac. I leave here a link to Amazon:
SALEWA Premium Attac Accesorio, Adultos Unisex, Plata, Talla Única
It's interesting that I found several people with the same set that day.

Is it really difficult this part to get to the summit?
Seeing it from below it looks quite difficult and dangerous, in particular the last half of the ridge that leads to the summit, but in reality things are not that difficult. We keep moving slowly and with caution and we don't find a single point where you could say it is difficult or dangerous. Although on some sections you have big falls on both sides, the path is wide enough so we never feel we are exposed.
Slowly and with caution we finally get to the coveted summit. Once there we will enjoy the wonderful views 360 degrees. The summit is quite wide and it also has a little hut.

Two helicopters have been flying all the time over the mountain, I imagine it is just in the case of someone having an accident. To me if feels more like a couple of vultures waiting for their dinner :-)

Being a long hike and also keeping in mind that the last part to the summit will take us a good amount of time I recommend you to start walking quite early in the morning and also to take it easy and enjoy this wonderful mountain and beautiful environment. I would consider it normal to go up and down in about 10 to 12 hours.

Extra caution in the ridge to the summit in case of bad weather.
