Itinerary description

This hike will first take you onto Trestle 66 crossing theCowichan River, then onto a trail on a ridge high above the water on the north side of Marie Canyon. As you descend to the River flatland you will be walking through a moss draped forest of fir, cedar & maple trees. This is a wonderful example of interior Island forest!

The Canyon is a popular spot for white water kayakers & you may see them here. Also along the lower section of the hike, you may see fly fishermen trying their luck.

There is a great lunch spot in a pleasant riverside meadow at the most easterly point of this hike.
