17-day route for the three Everest passes, Kong La pass, Cho La Pass and Renjo La Pass via the EBC
There are also ascents to Nangkartshang 5,073m, Chhukhung Ri 5,546m, Kala Pattar 5,648m, Gokyo Ri 5,357m, Sunder Peak Subtop 4,933m, Hillary Memorial 4,033m.
In general numbers, 211.3Km with 19,000m+ and 18,200m- in 87h in motion.
- Stage 0: Kathmandu - Ramechhap - Phaplu - Kharikhola
Travel by bus to Ramechhap airport. Due to bad weather with canceled flights the last 4 days they offer to fly to Phaplu. Then, 35km by Jeep in 7h to reach Kharikhola.
- Stage 1: Kharikhola - Cheplung (20.8Km 1,480m+)
- Stage 2: Cheplung - Namche Bazaar (16.3Km 1,366m+)
- Stage 3: Namche Bazaar - Deboche (11.3Km 892m+)
- Stage 4: Deboche - Dingboche (12.3Km 1,011m+)
- Stage 5: Dingboche - Chhukung (9.7Km 940m+) An ascent is made up to 5,100m of the slope of Chhukung Ri to improve acclimatization and not sleep at the highest point of the day.
- Stage 6: Chhukung Ri (6.9Km 820m+)
- Stage 7: Chhukung - Lobuche (10.9Km 813m+) It passes through the Kongma La Pass at 5,535m.
- Stage 8: Kala Pattar - EBC (19.5Km 980m+) From Lobuche you ascend to Kala Pattar 5,648m and then visiting the EBC 5,364m and return to Lobuche. Sleeping in Gorak Shep is avoided because it was very cold. This stage is long but I preferred to do it this way.
- Stage 9: Lobuche - Dzongla (8.6Km 175m+) I briefly deviate from the path and then retrace my steps to visit the memorial to the climbers and mountaineers.
- Stage 10: Dzongla - Gokyo (13.5Km 831m+) Pass through Cho La Pass 5,420m. The use of at least mini crampons is recommended to safely cross the small glacier prior to the pass.
- Stage 11: Gokyo Ri (10.6Km 733m+) Acclimatization ascent necessary for the next day.
- Stage 12: Gokyo - Thame (23.9Km 852m+) You cross the third pass, Renjo La Pass 5,360m and then a long descent to Thame. You can do this descent in two days stopping at Lungden but I wanted to try climbing Sunder Peak.
- Stage 13: Almost Sunder Peak (10km 1,200m+) Arrived at this "pre-top" I don't see clearly continuing ascending, so when I go just, I prefer to calmly return to Thame.
- Stage 14: Thame - Namche Bazaar (14.7Km 760m+) I visit the Hillary family memorial near Namche.
- Stage 15: Namche Bazaar - Lukla (18.1Km 735m+)
