Itinerary description
ESPAÑOL (BELOW, IN ENGLISH):

ENGLISH:
This route is highly recommended for expert walkers (It is level 5, high difficulty) in the Antioquia region.
From Medellín, take the road to the west region (way to Santafé de Antioquia) which includes passing through the western tunnel and head towards the La Urquita sector in San Jerónimo, for which you have to take the village road to the right, at the highway. In La Urquita there is a good store where you can buy fruits, hydration and provisions and from where there is a good initial view of the Cauca River Valley area. Once in La Urquita, the route begins along the "Vereda Buenavista" and turns right just at 1.5 km of the route to take a steep ascent towards the "Vereda Quiñones", through protected territory (Nature Reserve) in a land that gives the walker a simply spectacular view of the Cauca river valley area as it passes through the municipalities of Sopetrán and San Jerónimo until reaching the highest point located at 2,588 meters above sea level (11.2km of the route) in "Vereda Quiñones" of San Jeronimo. From that point, it is necessary to descend a ravine (a drop in altitude of 82 m) and cross a small stream to ascend again and continue towards the area of the "Corregimiento Ovejas", already in the municipality of San Pedro de Los Milagros, located at 2.4 km from said site. In Ovejas, we find a parish church with neo-colonial architecture and places where you can buy food and rest. From Ovejas, take the main road for 3.1 km, which is adorned by incredible landscapes and dairy farms, in an area that naturally has a cold climate, until you reach "las partidas" which is an arrival site for the main road that drive back to the city of Medellin, and from where it is easy to take a means of transport.
In total: 16.7 km, 1,365 m of positive elevation gain and 482 m of negative elevation gain.
